Our offer to schools joining RPT

We recognise that joining a Trust is a significant decision and that growth must benefit both the Trust and the schools that become part of it.

Our Strategic Plan sets out an approach to growth based on developing a strong family of schools, strengthening our central offer and building effective partnerships. We aim to provide joining schools with the support, expertise and infrastructure they need while maintaining clear responsibilities between the Trust and individual schools.

Our offer includes:

  • Strong governance and accountability, with a clear Scheme of Delegation and defined responsibilities between the Trust and its schools.
  • Access to specialist central expertise across school improvement, quality assurance, finance, HR, IT, communications, data, safeguarding, inclusion and therapy.
  • Robust financial management and compliance, supporting financial resilience, effective use of resources and value for money.
  • Rigorous school improvement and quality assurance, including regular evaluation, monitoring and improvement planning.
  • Professional development and coaching for staff at every level, including leadership development and routes into leadership.
  • A supportive network of schools, providing opportunities for collaboration, knowledge sharing and learning from effective practice.
  • Access to RPT's developing training and outreach offer, including School to School Support and training for mainstream schools and Additional Resource Provisions.
  • Opportunities to contribute to and benefit from partnerships, locally and nationally, which enhance education, SEND practice and preparation for adulthood and post-19 pathways.
  • Opportunities for community engagement and income generation, including the use of school facilities, lettings, training and other services.

The Trust's central team and governance arrangements are designed to provide support while ensuring that schools have clarity about what is led centrally, what is aligned across the Trust and what remains delegated to individual schools.

Growing sustainably

RPT is entering the next phase of its development with a clear focus on sustainable growth.

The Strategic Plan sets out our ambition to grow pupil numbers across our schools, develop new and satellite provision, and become a family of at least four schools plus satellite provision. It also sets out our intention to welcome additional schools into the Trust and to continue developing our training and outreach provision.

Growth is supported by:

  • Developing RPT's identity and reputation so that the Trust and its schools are increasingly recognised as part of one organisation.
  • Strengthening relationships with local authorities, the DfE and other key stakeholders.
  • Identifying potential schools and developing an approach to future growth.
  • Continuing to expand specialist provision and pupil places in response to local need.
  • Developing RPT's training, outreach and School to School Support offer.
  • Building local and national partnerships that enhance education, SEND practice and preparation for adulthood.
  • Developing income generation through training, services, lettings and community activities.
  • Continuing to review and develop the central Trust offer as the organisation grows.

Maintaining each school's identity

Growth within RPT is about building a strong family of schools while recognising the individual context and needs of each school.

The Strategic Plan establishes clear Trust-wide structures, including governance, accountability and the Scheme of Delegation, while setting out the responsibilities of central and school teams. This provides a framework for consistency, support and accountability as the Trust develops.

Our aim is to bring schools together through shared values, expertise, development opportunities and a common commitment to championing unique potential, while ensuring that the needs of individual schools and their communities remain central to our approach.
